Mondays Memories

I feel like I should be posting something. Even though the 7 day challenge is over. It kinda feels like it's not, but we will get back on with our regular lives. It seems like it would have gotten easier with more time. If I were to accept that challenge again I will plan out instead of waiting last minute. Out of everything that we have done just remember get your friends to vote. Also don't forget the fun you had in the process. Also please post links to all your entries down below  and I will spread the word about the voting process.

(I was working on this to put up yesterday but I stopped working on out to go to the gym. When I got back my laptop wouldn't come back out of sleep mode. So I am posting what I have threw my phone. I was going to add all my links, but now I won't best of luck to everyone that is in it.

Till the next challenge

Last night realizing I had not posted yet on this blog
So I shot this video on the way home from the store
It was around 11:50 pm

Fridays Finds

I am now on day Five of a 7day challenge on blogger
I already title this blog as Fridays Finds
And I was thinking Five Friday would work or Fridays five

Yesterday I posted a blog called Thrifty Thursday
In this blog I talked a little about my wife's blog and her couponing
Tonight wanted to share what our big finds were today

In here we have 6-12 pack of 12oz cans of Pepsi Next
6-1.25liter of Coke Zero
and  15-5oz bags of Texas Toast croutons
We got each  12 pack for 99 cent each (limit one per a purchase)
Yes we did 6 different transactions.
Each time we did a transaction we got a coupon for a free 1.25 liter of Coke Zero (we had to pay the tax for each one) which was 9cents each.
The croutons were on sale for 10 for $10. plus my wife had a coupon for 40cent of each (which the store we went to would double to 80cent) so she only payed 20cent each.

If you would like to know more about some of the deals my wife Finds on Fridays or any other day for that fact please look at her blog Julie's Coupons

Thrifty Thursday

On every Thursday my wife and I have Date night
(we have been doing this for about 2 years now)

After my wife and I got off work
We got ready for date night.
This week we started out going to the library
Afterwards we we went out to dinner
We ate at a place called Cinzetti's
 And after stuffing ourselfs
We finished out the evening by going to the Gym

For the 7 day Challenge Date night Thursday wouldn't work
For this blog I am going to redirect you to another blog.
My wife has started using coupons.
My wife is the thrifty one.

Workout Wednesday

Workout Wednesday...HA!  Try 3 weeks now!  But it sounds good for the blog title, huh?   We made a commitment to get healthy, that includes the kids.  So here we are, going at it everyday.  The kids are surprisingly doing very well at this.  Not that I doubted they could do that, but the older 2 are lazy teens, lol. And truthfully, they could kick our butts right now.  But that will hopefully change very soon.

We quit smoking over 7 months ago, and shortly after we gained a little weight.  We knew it was possible, we were warned, lol.  The weight was not welcomed and it took us a couple of months to finally say, "Let's do this".  And here we are, working out daily.  As I mentioned before, the kids are working out with us. Its been great doing this together, which brought us to a deal we all agreed upon.  Let me explain a little background first...

Our daughter is a childhood cancer survivor, 5 years to date!  Her diagnosis has lead us to become volunteers for several organizations, with our biggest one being Alex's Lemonade Stand (www.alexslemonade.org).  Last year was their first "Lemon Run" a local 5K, here in our area.  We volunteered and our daughter was an honored speaker.  We thought it would be very fitting for all of us to run the 5K this year, together!  And come to find out, our daughter will be the first survivor to run it!  This has given us a goal to work on and we are all very excited about it!

So, I am sure this will not be the last mention of our working out, fundraising or combination of the 2, lol.  Wish us luck as we continue to improve our health and continue to fundraise to help improve the lives of those affected by childhood cancer.

Miniature Monday

V-8 Engines in Miniature!

For all you out there who Love V-8 engines. There is no replacement for displacement, but check out these tiny versions that you could run on your workbench or kitchen table. These models were built by craftsmen the same way the big ones are made by machining billet stock and castings....  But in miniature.

These are not just models that look like engines, they are real running engines.

Here are some really nice examples:

Lee Root built this ¼ scale Corvette engine The major components were machined entirely from solid billet aluminum that has been bead blasted to look like castings.

Several V-8 engines by Ken Hurst are displayed at a model engineering shows like the Recent Western Engine Model Exhibition (WEME) in Vallejo , CA . How about that Supercharger! Behind the first engine is his blue Challenger V-8. The 103 cc engine Sounds great running on a mixture of white gas and high octane racing fuel.

Eugene Corl built this 1/3 scale Chevy V-8 using engine castings he produced himself. The engine is seen here at the Gas Engine Antique Reproduction Show (GEARS) In Portland, Oregon.

Jim Moyer built this 1/6 scale version of a 1964 365 HP Chevrolet Corvette 327. The world's smallest known running Chevrolet V-8. The heads and block are machined from billet aluminum. Jim even made stamping dies to make the oil pan, rockers and front cover. The valve covers are investment cast.

The finished 1/6 scale 5-bearing crankshaft fits in Jim's hand. It utilizes real Babbitt bearings.

Here you can see the cylinder heads of the Moyer 327 plus the stamped oil pan and front cover. Some things have to be modified to make a small engine run. Electricity and fuel molecules don't scale, so some parts have to be slightly heavier or larger than exact scale would dictate. Getting a small engine to run requires skill and careful work; getting one to run well is an art.
